Sculpture representing Silenus, the satyr personifying drunkenness who adopted Dionysus. Replica of a Roman bronze unearthed in Pompeii in 1863 and preserved at the Archaeological Museum of Naples. The crown decorated with palmettes worn by Silenus must have accommodated a terracotta container containing wine, or even an oil lamp. Beautiful bronze of good size.
